This piece is deeply personal because it relates to my own experience in a noxious relationship and has connected me to individuals who empathize with my story and share their own. The communion between myself and a viewer is my ultimate goal as an artist. Although this piece represents throwing in the towel and no longer wanting to play the game with a specific individual, it also represents all women who are able to stand against an abusive man claiming their power. If only it were always as easy as flipping the board over to take it back.

This piece is titled with the popular Bible verse 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. Often Christianity was used as a tool of manipulative abuse in the relationship this work is based on.
